The Blackfriars Bowl

2011 Blackfriars Bowl
The golfing season is now well underway with Rory McIlroy missing out on the Masters but winning the US Open in record breaking style and Darren Clarke winning The Open and celebrating in record breaking style! The final major saw Keegan Bradley take the USPGA in a nail-biting finish - now I really didn’t see that one coming! And as for Oliver Fisher … 20 missed cuts from 21 and then ends up winning the Czech Open. See Gandhi .. .there is hope!
The 9th Blackfriars Bowl sees us return to the home of golf in St. Andrews from Friday 16th - Sunday 18th September with the usual format of 18 holes on Friday, 36 on Saturday and the final 18 holes on Sunday.
And finally, spare a thought for Peter Spacek - the little known Slovakian pro who managed to complete the first (and for him final) two rounds of the 2011 Czech Open in a quite spectacular 35 over par. He shot 86, 94 which in Blackfriars Bowl terms would have been good enough for 25 and 16 points respectively (I’ve got him off scratch since he does apparently hold professional status). So, just to be clear that would be 41 points after day 1.
Statto’s Corner - Worst BB point scores at the end of Day 1:
2003: Mark 36, Graham 56
2004: Mark 23, Greg 44
2005: Robin 31, Jacko 44
2006: Symon 29, Craig 48
2007: Gandhi 40, Craig 45
2008: Nick 42, Richy 44
2009: Walshy 41, Greg 44
2010: Craig 38, Mark 35
To commemorate this achievement, Statto would like to introduce (and kindly sponsor) the Statto Prize which this year will be played in recognition of Peter’s achievements and will therefore be awarded for the lowest score at the end of Day 1. Good luck!
